Description

Participants will review ethical decision-making models. Through discussion, lecture, and group activities opportunities for understanding how due process, informed consent, dual roles, competency, and confidentiality are part of supervision. Legal issues in supervision including HIPPA, vicarious liability, malpractice, and privileged communication will be discussed.

Learning Goals and Objectives:

  1. Participants will identify a practical model for ethical decision making in supervision.

Participants will be able explain how ethical decision making models can apply to issues related to supervision (informed consent, competence, confidentiality, multiple relationships.

  • Participants will develop their own supervisory consent form.
  • Participants will identify legal issues that may influence the supervision process.
  • Participants will explain how to work with impairment and incompetence in supervision.
