Diane Levy

Dr. Levy is the founding director of Advanced Counselor Training & Supervision, LLC.

Dr. Levy holds a Ph.D. in Counselor Education and Practice as well as a Masters and Specialist degree in Professional Counseling from Georgia State University (GSU). She is a Nationally Certified Counselor (#49513), a Licensed Professional Counselor in GA (#003609), a Certified Professional Clinical Supervisor (CPCS) in GA (#297), and an Approved Clinical Supervisor (ACS #01754). Before her retirement in December 2014, for 10 years Dr. Levy was a full-time faculty member in the Department of Counseling and Psychological Services (CPS) at GSU. During her tenure in CPS she served as the Clinical Skills Coordinator, the Clinical Mental Health Counseling (CMHC) program Coordinator, and the Clinical Director for the CMHC program. Dr. Levy’s graduate-level teaching was highlighted by her design and facilitation of an advanced skills course in Motivational Interviewing (MI). She has been trained at both the introductory and advanced levels of MI.

Prior to her transition to academia in 2005, Dr. Levy was a practicing clinician at the Atlanta Relationship Center for approximately 8 years. As a clinician, Dr. Levy specialized in working with a broad range of mental health issues including, but not limited to, adults and adolescents presenting with psychological symptoms resulting from being undiagnosed with a learning disorder and other neurological impairment, adults with Attention-deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), depression, anxiety disorders, substance abuse/dependence, relationship issues (i.e divorce and family issues), educational counseling, and trauma (i.e. domestic violence, rape child abuse.)

She has presented numerous MI workshops and is scheduled for an MI workshop dedicated to healthy literacy funded by the WISEWOMEN program of Utah. In addition, she has consulted with mental health agencies on evaluation of professional leadership and clinical operations and, provided individual career consultation to mental health professionals.
